Lauren Pelon: The Living Roots of Music

April 2, 2012   White Mountain Library   7 pm

Lauren Pelon traces the story of music and performs music from around the world on lute, guitar, lute-guitar, lyre, recorders, gemshorns, cornamuse, krummhorn, schreierpfeife, shawm, rackett, pennywhistles, concertina, ocarina, hurdy-gurdy, doucaine, Kiowa courting flute, synthesizers, electric wind instrument and MIDI-pedalboard.  This is a FREE PERFORMANCE!

 

 

Paul Taylor: Bringing the Australian Outback to Sweetwater County Schools

April 9-20, 2012  

Public Performance: April 18  White Mountain Library   7 pm

Paul will be holding school residencies at Sweetwater County outlaying schools -- Farson, Wamsutter, McKinnon, and Granger. 

The evening PERFORMANCE will be free to the public!

 

 

Rob Daugherty – Wildlife Photography

June 2012 

Rob Daugherty is an up-and-comer in the photography world; his interest started with curiosity, and has burgeoned into a flourishing trade of shots in the breathtaking venues found across the United States.

The public is invited to a Reception to Meet the Artist. Date and time will be announced.

 

 

National Watercolor Society Traveling Exhibit

July 2 - August 4, 2012

Worth the wait! Award winning watermedia paintings from the annual competition held in the fall of each year by the National Watercolor Society. 

 

 

Katie Christensen -- Printmaking Exhibit

August 2012 

Katie Christensen works in several printmaking techniques including monotypes.

Paul Ng -- Photography

September 2012 

Longtime resident of Sweetwater County, Paul has traveled extensively and has new images to capture the viewer's imagination.

The public is invited to a Reception to Meet the Artist. Date and time will be announced.

 

 

6th Annual Community Exhibit

October 2012

Open exhibit for Sweetwater County artists. Each year a theme is presented and artists are invited to submit work in any medium. Past shows have included mandalas, postcard art, lines, autumn holidays, and just black & white.

This year's criteria "Day of the Dead".

 

 

 Debra Uhls: Sculpture Exhibit

November 2012

Metal sculpture and cast jewelry by Wyoming artist Debra Uhls.

 The public is invited to a Reception to Meet the Artist. Date and time will be announced.

 

 

Meggan Stordahl -- Encaustic Exhibit

December 2012 

Meggan Stordahl is exploring the tactile qualities of encaustic painting, sometimes incorporating mixed media in the wax images.

The public is invited to a Reception to Meet the Artist. Date and time will be announced.

 

 

 Art and Landscapes in the Red Desert

January 2013

The Wyoming Wilderness Association is holding a competition to highlight this beautiful and unique landscape in southern Wyoming. Qualifying artists and photographers will be asked to also include a paragraph or two about their connection to this landscape.  Information will be announced soon on their webpage http://www.wildwyo.org/ 

 

 

 

Wyoming Shakespeare Festival Company

July 20, 2012   Bunning Park  6 pm

The Company returns to Rock Springs this summer to perform “King Lear” – free performance in the park!

 

 

Laurie Rubin in Concert

February 27, 2013  

Concert  Rock Springs High School Theatre   7 pm

Multi-faceted talent, Laurie will perform a variety of opera and popular music. She will also have a display of her jewelry designs at the CFAC for the month and promote her new memoir “Do You Dram in Color?” as she shares her life as a blind artist.

 

 

Paul Taylor: Bringing the Australian Outback to Sweetwater County Schools

Storyteller, musician and artist Paul Taylor will continue his school residency for the 16th year in Sweetwater County!

Alfredo Rolando Ortiz: South American Harp

September 14, 2010, 7 p.m., RSHS Theatre

Enjoy an evening with Alfredo's captivating music. School assemblies are being planned also.

This year's criteria is simply that the work must have a dominate horizontal line running through the work -- straight, curved, angular. You name it -- as long as it runs from one side to the other!

 

 

Judy Gonet Jones: Watercolors

November, 2010

 Jones finds inspiration from the vast landscapes and mountains of western Wyoming. 

AND a watercolor workshop is being planned with this experienced painter and teacher – call for more information!

 

 

UTAH SYMPHONY returns to Rock Springs!

December 15, 2010, 7 p.m., RSHS Theatre

An evening to enjoy classical music that brings the traditional holiday celebration to your family!  

Tickets $15 each – available at CFAC and county libraries.

Children’s Performance on Thursday co-sponsored with Sweetwater BOCES.

Repertory Dance Theatre

ArtCamp 2011

Two Sessions: June and July

The CFAC and Sweetwater BOCES team together to hold two week-long art instruction workshops for students 5th through 9th grade. Learn the basics and beyond! $30 covers all supplies. Students only need to bring lunch and a water bottle. For information, call the CFAC at 362-6212. 

 

 

Western and Wild Horse Art Show and Sale

This show has been held the past eight years with the assistance of the CFAC, Rock Springs Chamber of Commerce, Rock Springs Historical Museum and Sweetwater Travel and Tourism Board and the Wyoming Arts Council.  And where would we be without the many community volunteers and the artists!

Bryce Castillon's Watercolors and 

Bryan Cordova's Bronze Sculptures

Castillon creates detailed fresh images with a Western theme and Cordova's wildlife sculptures are true to life!

Charles Dayton – On the Open Range

December 2011 

Charles Dayton inherited a strong connection to the American West. His ancestors, part of the Mormon migration, colonized high-mountain valleys in Idaho, Utah and Wyoming. His great-great-grandfather was a missionary to Chief Washakie and the Eastern Shoshone. Charles has participated in the local Wild horse and Western Art Show for several years.

 

 

Ryan Muldowney – Oil Paintings

January 2012 

Currently Ryan Muldowney is the painting and drawing instructor at Sheridan College in Wyoming and exhibits nationally.  He received is BFA from the University of the Arts and completed his graduate degree at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.

 

 

MEN OF WORTH in concert -- FREE

February 29, 2012  White Mountain Library 7 p.m.

Returning to Sweetwater County, this talented duo will entertain us with their traditional Irish and Scottish music and lively stories. School residencies are being planned also.
